Green Machine Planning
I will take photos of myself and a friend wearing balaclavas as generally looking ‘suspicious’ around concealed and run-down areas. Our outfits will assist with creating this atmosphere and theme, alongside the use of our backpacks as props, and the use of a metal container as a ‘drop spot’. Additionally, I will assemble some bank notes and other miscellaneous props to show a form of ‘headquarters‘. I will edit my photographs to bring a more serious mood, alongside a sense of unease and intrigue, as to fit with the True Crime genre.
The main idea for my documentary is an exploration of the largest county lines operation great Yarmouth, including ex-members and a commentary over recovered footage from within the organisation. I have chosen this as it is appealing to 16-25 year olds, as county lines gangs are mainly composed of younger individuals, additionally, the target audience would be further drawn in as they would be greatly intrigued about learning how the generation succeeding them lives. Furthermore, this fits the true crime genre, of which 16-25 year old fans of groundbreaking documentaries are likely to find appealing.
I have researched into the typical clothing and general appearance of gang members and drug dealers in the UK, alongside watching documentaries with real footage to grasp the kinds of areas these people operate in. Unfortunately I will have to take my photos in the daytime, as it will be the only time both me and my friend will both be available.
My original idea was to make my posters on tunnels underneath Great Yarmouth, as the link to conspiracies would definitely appeal to the 16-25 year old audience. However, this idea was difficult to realise due to the lack of good-looking tunnels in my area.
Below are a mixture of used and unused images, including basic planning and scrapped posters.
