Statement of Intent

 

In my print advertisement, I will abide by the rule set out by the ASA. For example, my poster will not promote or showcase any violence, antisocial behaviour, or cause fear or distress to any particular audience. This is important as my poster will be displayed on billboards across the nation, and therefore must not offend any minority group or otherwise suggest that any particular group is negative or otherwise lesser than any other. My programme will broadcast after 9pm, as it may contain scenes unsuitable for children.

My target audience will be portrayed positively, with two, young male ex- county lines members around 18-25 years of age being presented in a  relatable manner on my poster. One of which is of Jewish decent, which means that I will have two different social groups portrayed on my poster, being Jewish and Atheist. Additionally, by making use of younger models on my poster, my target audience of 16–25 year old fans of groundbreaking documentaries will be attracted to my programme as they will find the models relatable. My documentary will centre around these two ex-county lines members as they explore abandoned buildings of significance to their county lines operation, with visual aid through dramatized recreation scenes, so I will additionally portray them as educated, and by extension, portray my target audience as educated. By nature of my documentary being True Crime, it will further attract 16–25 year old fans of groundbreaking documentaries, as True Crime is a largely popular genre among younger audiences.

My poster advertisement will feature a distinct, but serious colour scheme. I plan to make use of eye-catching colours, such as a vibrant green with contrast to black and white to highlight the primary parts of the poster. I will also make use of a tagline, which I will print in a different colour font to the rest of the poster, likely red. I will make use of a font that is commonly connoted to True Crime documentaries, as to make the target audience instantly recognise what genre my documentary is. My images will focus on the two ex-members, and other locations of interest and the layout will assure no focus is take from the image, whilst also making sure the title is still clear, alongside the tagline.
